2011 Varsity Wrestling Rankings
Through 02/09/11

Although it will be my goal to post the most accurate rankings I can, much of my data will depend on the submission of information from the state's coaches, wrestlers, parents, and fans.   Coaches, parents, wrestlers and fans who have records or upsets to report are encouraged to email me at warp57jj@hotmail.com.  Specific details about matches should be included with all submissions.  As in most rankings there is a bit of subjectivity involved.

The wrestling poll is an all inclusive coaches' poll. Coaches who have not received an email regarding the poll are encouraged to email me with current contact information. Polls are due, by email, every Sunday.  The poll is updated every Monday or Tuesday.

I have not heard that.  I did notice that he hasn't been competing in recent tournaments.  Perhaps someone from Middlebury can shed some light?

The nsnsports article is from last year (February 07, 2010).
Too bad if he's out.  After last year's New England results it would be nice for VT to come back with multiple place winners and more than one in a weight class would be sweet.

Next week (President's week) is one of my busiest weeks of the year, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have for rankings, so I thought I would update the 2/6 rankings based upon what I know so far.  Please keep the feedback & results coming.  Thanks.

125-Willard-MAU loses to Harrington-OV, drops to 4
135/140-Murray-Mid wrestled 135 last weekend.  No official word on what weight he goes, but based upon him losing to Viens-FRO-Hartford, I suspect he stays @140 where he should be a 2 seed (beat Hahr head to head).  Bliss has had a tough time of it lately and has dropped out of the top 5 (for now).
215-Streeter-Har starting to put it all together, he's beating kids Bassler has lost to.  Bassler at best 6th right now.

On the injury front, Jody Fabien-112-FH is recovering from being brought down hard on his head in match last week.  It is uncertain if defending champ Ashley-Seleck-152-Mid will be healthy enough for states.  We hope both have speedy recoveries.

How does losing to the #2 kid at 125 drop you to 4th, when you where 3rd?When the MAU kid lost to the #1 Kid 4-2 but really was 2-1 the MAU kid shot in with 18sec left and Kyle got the take down with 3 sec left also he beat the #2 kid from Otter Valley not taking anything away from him he should be their at 2 he has beat the MAU kid the last 2 times 5-1 and 9-2 last night but not sure why that drops him to 4th?I guess it doesn't matter maybe this will light a fire under his butt make the freshman a little mad he's way better then what he showed last night and this weekend BF's Cyle Weyant will be coming to MAU maybe the youngster can put something to gether

Willard was previously ranked #3 in front of Shadduck (despite losing a close match to him early on in the season @ N/S duals).  Willard had not wrestled Harrington.  Willard then loses to Harrington last night.  Harrington split with Shadduck, with Harrington winning the most recent match (I think).  Willard has a chance to move up if he beats Weyant this weekend.

Shadduck beat Harrington? When?i was talking to his father at the MAU duals and he said he has beaten him every time and at the MAU tournament he pinned him that was what 2 weeks ago so he has beat Harrington sense then?look I'm not for either kid and i think their all good and it will be fun to watch but if you where 3rd and you lose to the 2nd ranked kid then why drop to 4th why was the Willard kid even ranked ahead of Shdduck before if you bring up that the Willard kid lost a close match 4-3 so what your saying is that Willard beat Harrington 8-4 back a few weeks ago and lost a close match to the BF kid so that put him ahead of Shadduck?

at that time?if Shadduck has beat Harrington once then i can see that even though the MAU kid beat Harrington once and lost 5-1 a good match and 9-2 witch from what i heard was closer then what the score was and 4-1 the the BF kid witch was a close match to, i guess what I'm saying is why was the MAU kid ever a head of the St J kid any how ? if this is what your saying?maybe this weekend will clear some stuff up : )and if your the BF kid or the Otter kid witch Freshman do you want to see in your side of the bracket : )if it gets to that the Kent kid could make some noise to good kid good wrestler to ......have to love wrestling you do a great job warp  keep it up thanks..... just trying to get talk going

to bad Cyle from BF got sick ;) on Friday night and couldn't wrestle at the MAU meet on Saturday would have been fun to see him and the MAU 125 lbs kid go at before the states guess well have to wait till then maybe they will both move on in the brackets and see each other, i think they will be in the same side? will be fun to see if the young Willard kid can handle wrestling him,he Cyle will have every body in the state cheering for him Willard will have home fans but most every body love's when MAU kids loose ;)

Anybody who has been around wrestling for awhile remembers the days when state tournaments were held at MAU. One thing you don't have to worry about at MAU is having enough fans cheering for MAU kids.
