Hello VT wrestling community,
I would like to hear your thoughts on an organized Vermont traveling wrestling team.
I've been working on putting together a Vermont Wrestling Travel Team for some time now. I've been traveling to tournaments outside the state and I've bumped into other Vermont coaches and parents with their kids at tournaments. There's been some talk and interest in putting together a traveling team from Vermont and I'd love to coordinate something a bit more organized. The goal of this travel program is to expose Vermont kids to some big tournaments; bring together VT kids and families so to properly represent VT wrestling as a team instead of only isolated independent wrestlers. This will give Vermont a bigger presence in the national wrestling community which should in return give our Vermont wrestlers increased opportunities. It will extend the season for passionate wrestlers to participate more in the sport they love.
Also this can be a great opportunity for interested kids, parents & coaches to get involved and supplement their Vermont season.
Travel cost will be based on the participation and details of each tournament. I would like to start some fundraising, and am willing to partly sponsor the travel program through my business. This year after VT states & the MASS New Englands, I will be going to tournaments like the Marshwoods- Maine NewEnglands at the Portland Civic Center, Gene Mills Tournament in Baldwinsville, NY, Ohio Tournament of Champions in Columbus Ohio, and many New Hampshire & New York tournaments. I am also looking at tournaments in NJ, VI, CT, etc. Wouldn’t it be a lot of fun and good for the kids to travel together and properly represent VT as an “A” team?
As soon as I hear about your interest in the program I will send out registration forms along with a start to the schedule. Information on cost and ordering VT singlets and warm up uniforms can and will be emailed soon thereafter.
